YOUTH NOVEL ‘Youth Novel‘ tape (ZB237)

Since helping release the first YOUTH NOVEL ‘Demo’ tape in 2014 we’ve been hot and heavy for this Michigan screamo band. This posthumous album was recorded years ago but shelved when members moved away. During the quarantine Jon and Maya found time and recruited a new vocalist to help finish up the band’s final recordings. What we are left with is a cathartic, precise, beautiful and chaotic release spread over 11 tracks. Taking what made the band great and fine-tuning their juxtapositions, these jams span from a minute to almost seven and are both more aggressive (utilizing three vocalists!) as well as lush/gorgeous. This first run is across 204 copies with the following breakdown:’Youth Novel’ cassette- 100 red swirl- 50 opaque silver- 20 gold swirl- 20 green swirl (only available in 2x12” bundle)- 9 mystery swirl- 5 test dips

All cassettes come in a clear case with double-sided j-card and download code. 11 songs.

There is something purely authentic and honest about Infant Island's music. These songs are substantial in their impact that go deep under the surface. The sound mix is everywhere (track 3 on headphones?!?!) with some of the slower nuanced moments giving needed space for maximum effect when the violent intensity hits. But on career highlight "Awoken," they leave nothing behind. A must hear song from an increasingly important band. bcb723
